The Importance Of Stretching… I Learned The Hard Way

It’s very common to listen to our friends and co-workers chatting about their exercise schedule or various workout routines, but how often do we discuss our stretching routines? Moreover, how often do we make stretching a priority in our lives? After being diagnosed with two labral tears in my left hip, (likely due to my love of heavy weight training, HIIT workouts, and severe lack of post-exercise stretches), I learned the hard way that stretching is important – if not a vital part of any healthy fitness routine. (Previously, the only stretching I incorporated in my day was 2-3 minutes post-workout when our fitness instructor led us through a brief routine.) That was clearly not enough. Pain, downtime, and lengthy Physical Therapy sessions served to drive this point home fully – stretching is essential. I now encourage everyone to stretch! Find
