An Inspiring Story for International Women’s Day

For more than 100 years, International Women’s Day has celebrated the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. At the Canadian Red Cross, we recognize the influence that strong women have had on our mission. Daily, we see the strength and resilience of women in Canada and around the world, from their perseverance through emergencies to their willingness to help when disaster strikes. Hanna Olszewski is one such woman. When she was seven, war in Poland forced her family to fight for survival. On the run, hungry, and separated from her father, Hanna’s family connected with the Red Cross. They provided food, shelter, and reconnected her parents.
